My passion for athletics and fitness goes as far back as I can remember. As a youth I was the type of athlete to ponder the “Whys” of fitness. “Why do we run X amount of miles?” “Why do we do 3 sets of ten?” I was fascinated with the human body’s potential for development and growth. My passion for athletics has driven me throughout my life. I was able to letter in five different high school sports. I went on to participate in collegiate football as well as track and field. After leaving college I had a long and successful semi-pro football career which included multiple national championships, and I was honored by having my jersey officially retired.

During my time playing semi-pro football, I was introduced to the idea of helping others embrace fitness with the same passion and enthusiasm that has benefited me. My personal training career began in 2009 with an internship at Athletic Performance INC., Home of the Cave Man Training philosophy. There I was able to be on the ground floor for a lot of exciting and innovative fitness experiences.  I was also able to hone my craft around a variety of professional athletes and non-athletes looking to get more from their fitness routines. I’ve worked with professional MMA fighters and athletes, members of the Armed Forces, First Responders, high school and collegiate athletes, as well as weight loss clients, clients who are differently-abled, and those looking to improve their overall health and well-being.

In 2012, I was named best Personal Trainer in the Twin Cities by City Pages magazine. After winning the award, I decided to take my talents to a broader audience and began working with the YMCA first as a personal trainer, then as head of the training department.  I loved my time at the Y as it not only confirmed the athletic philosophies that I have been developing over the years, but also afforded me an even greater opportunity to work with those who may have strayed from fitness longer than they would like or those who may have needed to develop a positive relationship with fitness.
